We are local hosts passionate about good food, honest conversations, and experiences that feel real.


We don't design tours to "see", but experiences to try, share and connect, like a good friend taking you to eat at their favorite places.


We curate flavors that truly excite us.


It doesn't matter if it's in a market, a street cart, a neighborhood dive, or a restaurant recognized as one of the best in the world. If it's worth sharing, it's on our table.


Taste Peru is for curious travelers, foodies and culture lovers who want to go beyond the touristy and experience Lima like a local: calmly, thoughtfully and with plenty of flavor.


I am Álvaro Mendoza, creator of Taste Perú, a local foodie and a lover of good food.

I grew up in Lima surrounded by my parents' hospitality. In my house, receiving friends and family was always a celebration.


From a young age I understood that food not only nourishes: it unites, connects and creates memories.


I studied marketing and worked for several years in multinational companies, until I decided to start getUP!, a healthy food delivery company that is still active today and that allowed me to get to know the gastronomic world, the supplies, the chefs and the passion that a good, well-made meal awakens.


In 2020 I made another important decision: to become a nomad. I traveled through Asia, Europe, and Africa, and then lived for two years in Buenos Aires. In each city I took food tours, tasted new flavors, met people… and I always thought the same thing:

“This should exist in Peru.”


There was one phrase that he repeated every time he met someone new:

"Peru? The food there is amazing! When are you going to make us some ceviche?"

That idea stayed with me until it took shape.


In 2025 I returned to Lima to create Taste Peru: an honest and careful way to showcase our gastronomy to the world, from within, with pride and without filters.


Today we work with a team that shares the same vision:

chefs with international experience, hospitality experts, and hosts who love telling stories around a table.
